Comment by I had a problem with the Highbank Lieutenant the quest-giver either despawning or getting killed, I wasn't sure which. If he's not around when you make it to the end by the gate, he may just be lagged behind, or you may need to abandon and run it again.

I recommend, in this case, making him your focus target and keeping an eye on him till you get there and the quest completes. Hope this helps! Tried asking a Blizz employee, but he wanted me to complete the quests in the cave.
