A few episodes of Angel later, the titular vamp is brooding in the garden, when Cordelia comes running out to tell him Buffy is alive again. Angel heads off to meet her immediately as Buffy leaves Sunnydale in season 6 episode "Flooded" to make her way to him too.

Heartbreakingly, we never see the reunion as it all takes place off screen. In a string of episodes from Angel 's fourth season, vampire slayer Faith Eliza Dushku — who first appeared on Buffy 's third season — is convinced by Wesley Alexis Denisof to break out of prison to help them contain Angelus so they can en-soul him once again.

In a minor crossover, after hearing there's a slayer in town, Angel calls Buffy's house confirming she's still in Sunnydale. Later, Willow is brought in to perform the spell to curse Angel once again — and enjoy a mini reunion with Cordelia and Wesley while she's at it.

The season 5 premiere of Angel welcomes Buffy regular Spike into the fold when he's resurrected after literally going out in a blaze of glory in the Buffy series finale. And so ensues a season of squabbling between the two vamps with souls who fell for the same slayer. TV gold. This episode gets points for having a double crossover and because it involves Buffy fan favorite Oz Seth Green. In season one of Angel, Willow's boyfriend-of-the-time shows up at Angel's office with a magical ring that makes the vampire wearing it invulnerable to sunlight and other weaknesses.

Spike then appears on his heels, seeking the ring for himself. It all ends with Angel destroying the ring rather than figuring out how he looks with a tan. When Angel Investigations employee Doyle Glenn Quinn has a prothetic vision of Buffy in trouble, Angel heads to Sunnydale to surreptitiously aid his ex. He manages to do so unseen and Buffy would never even have known he'd been there apart from a feeling she kept having that he was close until Xander Nicholas Brendon lets it slip that her former boo was in town.

Having woken up from a coma and wreaked a whole bunch of havoc in Sunnydale, rogue slayer Faith Eliza Dushku heads to L. She, of course, doesn't succeed — though she does torture poor Wesley for a while — and eventually breaks down in Angel's arms, remorseful for her past actions.

Willow and Tara create a magical device allowing Buffy to swap herself back with Faith. Where the Wild Things Are. Faith is in L. Angel tries to make Faith see reason. Buffy comes to L. Faith eventually turns herself in to the police and begins the long road to recovery and redemption. Angel comes to Sunnydale and fights with Riley. Angel apologises to Buffy for the way he spoke to her in L. Primeval Part Two of Two.

To Shanshu in L. Angel visits Faith in jail to see how she is. No Place Like Home. Guise Will Be Guise. The Shroud of Rahmon. The Thin Dead Line. I Was Made to Love You.

Angel comes to Sunnydale to comfort Buffy after the death of her mother, Joyce. Harmony comes for a visit to L. The Weight of the World. Through the Looking Glass. Angel is away at a spiritual retreat while he grieves over Buffy's death. An old vampire comes hunting Angel when the team kills the love of his life. The vampire's accusations about Angel never having loved anyone makes him feel Buffy's death even more - like he is betraying her for surviving.

Bargaining, Part 1. Bargaining, Part 2. That Old Gang Of Mine. The finale, while controversial, gave just the amount of open ended-ness needed to keep Angel alive in our hearts forever. Angel was a show that knew what it wanted to be from day one, and it did a great job of getting there.

The season also introduced us to the evil side of Angel, a character which David Boreanaz clearly relished playing, to great comedic effect. In addition, season two managed to build on and continue all the character development from season one, more fully fleshing out characters like Xander, Willow and Giles while still keeping the focus squarely on Buffy and her personal journey. His relationship with Faith, in addition to his goal of taking over Sunnydale entirely, provided the perfect backdrop for Buffy to unite her whole class together in fighting against the forces of darkness, leading to one of the best TV season finales of all time.

High school angst at its finest. Willow can be seen on the other end of the phone, brushing her teeth in her UC Sunnydale dorm room with a shocked expression on her face and warns Cordelia about Harmony's newfound vampirism.

Cordelia laughs and makes a mild slur about thinking Harmony's a lesbian, only to be informed by Willow herself that she is now a lesbian. Willow then makes a phone call to the Hyperion Hotel about Harmony's vampirism, but her side of the call is not shown onscreen. In the Buffy episode " Forever ," Angel meets with Buffy at the graveyard to provide comfort following her mother's funeral.

He provides comfort and the two share a kiss. Their happiness is crushed, however, when a silent grief stricken Willow is seen in the hotel lobby, about to inform them of Buffy's death. The season three premiere of Angel , " Heartthrob ," sees Angel spend the Summer between the second and third season at a retreat, grieving Buffy's death.

At the end of the episode, Angel and Cordelia discuss Buffy's death some more with both agreeing that they miss her but that she would have wanted Angel to move on and not brood over her. In the Buffy episode " Flooded ," Buffy takes a phone call offscreen.

When she returns, she announces that Angel has called and wants to meet her between Sunnydale and LA. She takes off to meet him at the end of the episode.

We are never shown the conversation between the two but it's implied that it didn't go well with Angel returning from their meeting in the Angel episode " Fredless ," grumpy and looking for comfort food in ice-cream.

In the Buffy episode " Life Serial ," a downcast Buffy returns from the meeting with her own comfort food in fried chicken. In the Angel episode " Salvage ," Faith is in prison when she is attacked by a fellow inmate, holding a knife the same make as what the Harbingers of Death were using in Sunnydale to get rid of Buffy and the Potential Slayers.

Faith is then encouraged by Wesley to break out of prison and help fight Angelus and The Beast. Faith agrees and returns to the hotel with him, appearing in the episodes " Release " and " Orpheus. Angelus, later hearing about a Slayer being present in LA, calls the Summers' house to see if Buffy's there, Dawn answers the phone although Dawn's side of the call is not shown on either show. This is the only time Angel is ever seen contacting Dawn, she didn't exist until the fifth season of Buffy but everyone who met anyone from the Summers family had their memories modified to include Dawn.

He informs Willow that a "feminine sounding" Fred wants to speak to her. Willow then goes down to the basement and tells Buffy that she needs to leave but will inform her about everything when she gets back. In the Angel episode " Orpheus ," Willow meets with Angel Investigations, announcing that Fred called her to help restore Angel's soul. She is seen to have a friendly relationship with Fred, Gunn and Wesley and is also unsurprised by Angel's teenage son Connor who shows a distrustful attitude towards her and her magic.
