Can you paint vinyl fascia

This could be what is being described to me as vinyl as that contractor insisted it could be painted and that he only uses high quality stuff.

So I'm thinking I should be giving him more credit now because he sounded positive and I kept insisting that I didn't think vinyl could be painted. I'm liking the idea of the cement board though.

I have vinyl at our lake cottage and it does look awful in the heat of summer, I have not painted it but am wanting to remove it and use aluminum coil product in a couple years when it goes beyond the ugly wavy look. I have seen the cement type product and a fiberglass hardie product that would make sense if you have the sea spray and aluminum corrosion some areas of FL have.

Getting a wedding event advisor can be costly but it will make a tremendous difference to your stress levels, or even the entire expertise of the wedding day. Here's an entertaining hint - process your wedding kiss! You wish to make it trustworthy and never alluring, not too quick however, not too long. Apply your chosen paint with a roller or even a paint sprayer, saving brushwork for corners and edges. Evenly coat the entire surface, taking care not to apply too much paint in any one section.

Upon finishing the first coat, let the paint dry—if not completely, then mostly—before continuing on to the second. The second coat, however, must be given enough time 24 hours at most to dry completely before the project can be considered complete.

Most of the time, two coats are sufficient—but not always. Once you have allowed the second coat of paint to dry completely, assess its appearance to determine whether an additional coat may be needed. This is all much easier said than done, of course. Painting the home exterior and painting vinyl siding is a large, laborious job.

Allow everything to dry for at least a day before continuing to the next step. If your soffits and fascia are aluminum or vinyl, you probably don't have to wait quite as long. Up on the ladder, I gave the area a closer inspection. I found that the fascia paint was faded and worn, and the soffit paint was coming off in big chunks.

It was easy to use a paint scraper or in my case, the chisel end of a pry bar and remove all that peeling paint. Once the loose bits were removed, I used a sanding block to smooth out any lumps and flaked paint.

Luckily, the wood looked to be in good shape underneath. But one area needed a little bit of extra attention Way back when we moved into this house, the first thing we did was replace and expand the rotting deck.

At the same time, we removed the back door and turned the window in the dining room to the right into a sliding glass door. You can read more about this project here. See that missing piece of siding over the door? There was a weird awning thing there before, and apparently removing it caused a few gaps to be revealed in the soffit board.

The contractor never fixed it, so it stayed like that for the last five years. I'm shocked there wasn't a wasp nest or something up there! Luckily, it was empty and clean, but it still needed to be covered up. I cut a thin strip of cedar on the table saw, and gave it a quick coat of primer. Then I nailed it to the soffit board, tight against the siding. Now the gap is gone, and the ragged siding edge is hidden too! Although the garage is older than the house, with a different kind of siding, the color matched the house and so did the soffit and fascia.

First, I scrubbed it clean with TSP and then rinsed super well with a pressure washer. I had to remove years of mildew and moss so scrubbing took awhile. Because pressure washing really pushes a lot of water into surfaces, be careful pressure washing a house — especially around windows.
